Music for Holy Week from Saint John Cantius

This recording, which presents the emotional depth and variety of music for this important liturgical season, traces the six major services of Holy Week, from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.

From the heart of Chicago, St. John Cantius presents the St. Cecilia Choir through the emotional depth of Holy Week from Chicago’s St. John Cantius Church. The triumphal Ingrediente Domino of Palm Sunday marks Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem and lifts the heart. The Heavenly high C of Allegri’s Miserere, sung at Tenebrae transports the listener to ethereal contemplations of Holy Week. This CD was recorded at the venerable St. John Cantius Church in Chicago and Re-released on AimHigher Recordings/Sony Classical in 2017.
