The Ceremonial of Solemn High Mass is a unique aid and quick reference guide for learning to celebrate the Tridentine Solemn High Mass of the 1962 Missale Romanum. This is a great help in learning the rubrics of the Solemn High Latin Mass of the Roman Rite

On July 7, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI issued Summorum Pontificum, making the Tridentine Latin Mass of 1962 available to all the priests of the Latin Roman Rite. The Ceremonies of the Roman Rite Described is an invaluable resource for Roman Catholic priests wanting to learn to celebrate the Latin Mass according to the 1962 Missale Romanum.

This superb newly revised 1962 edition of The Ceremonies of the Roman Rite Described by Fortescue/O’Connell incorporates the current 1983 Code of Canon Law, as well as recent rulings of Ecclesia Dei. It explains in vivid detail the intricate ceremonies of the “Mass of all Ages,” as well as the Divine Office, Benediction, Holy Week, and the complete liturgical year.

We are happy to offer The Ceremonies of the Roman Rite Described at a great price.

“A truly sumptuous edition of this classic work.” —Michael Davies

From the Preface of The Ceremonies of the Roman Rite Described

It is my pleasure to present this fourteenth edition of The Ceremonies of the Roman Rite Described, a work originally written by the noted scholar, the Reverend Doctor Adrian Fortescue, and subsequently revised many times by Canon J.B. O’Connell… The permission for the reintroduction into public worship of the Roman Missal according to the typical edition of 1962 dates from the issuance of the Letter Quattuor abhinc annos of 3 October 1984… The use of this missal was further encouraged by His Holiness Pope John Paul II in his Apostolic Letter Ecclesia Dei of 2 July 1988. Particularly since then there has been a growing desire for the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in this venerable form of the Roman Rite on the part of a good number of the faithful… This development has rendered Dom Alcuin's most recent revision of this manual on ceremonies a particularly felicitous one. May the publication of this new edition of a classic work contribute to “that blended ‘harmony’ which the earthly Church raises up to Heaven under the impulse of the Holy Spirit” (Ecclesia Dei 5, a)!

—Dario Cardinal Castrillon Hoyos, President, Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, 17 June 2003.
