MOTET FOR CHOIR

4 pgs., 8.5" x 11" page size

This is a lovely setting of the Tantum Ergo by Nicholas White. This text by St. Thomas Aquinas is sung at Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. It is also used as a Eucharistic hymn. In concert setting, it is a stunning piece and makes a nice contrast to the iconic setting by Maurice Duruflé.

TRANSLATION OF TANTUM ERGO
Down in adoration falling,
Lo! the sacred Host we hail,
Lo! o’er ancient forms departing
Newer rites of grace prevail;
Faith for all defects supplying,
Where the feeble senses fail.

To the Everlasting Father,
And the Son Who reigns on high
With the Holy Ghost proceeding forth from
Each eternally, be salvation, honour,
blessing, might, and endless majesty. Amen.
