8 inches tall, finely detailed resin
This Holy Water Font is a depiction of Our Lady of Fatima appearing to the three children Lucia, Francisco, and Jacinta. With finely detailed cast resin and a generous reservoir for holy water, it is both a practical and aesthetically attractive way of keeping holy water in your home.
Holy Water is one of the greatest sacramentals in the Catholic Church. As you bless yourself and your family with holy water, you renew the faith God planted in your soul on the day of your Baptism. You may wish, from time to time, to renew your baptismal promises:
Question: Do you reject Satan?
Response: I do.
Question: And all his works?
Response: I do.
Question: And all his empty promises?
Response: I do.
Question: Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth?
Response: I do.
Question: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, Who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father?
Response: I do.
Question: Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting?
Response: I do.
Catholics dip their fingers in the holy water and make the sign of the cross when entering the church. The liturgy may begin on Sundays with the Rite of Blessing and Sprinkling Holy Water, in which holy water is sprinkled upon the congregation; this is called aspersion, from the Latin, aspergere, to sprinkle. This ceremony dates back to the ninth century.
This use of holy water and making a sign of the cross when entering a church reflects a renewal of baptism, a cleansing of venial sin, as well as providing protection against evil. It is sometimes accompanied by the following prayer:
“By this Holy water and by your Precious Blood, wash away all my sins O Lord.”
