This item brought to you by the Saint Martha’s Guild of St. John Cantius Church.
This custom made, handcrafted vesperale is a felt altar cover, or dust cover, that is laid over the linen altar cloth when the sanctuary is at rest. It is a beautiful addition to altar dressings that also protects the linen from stains, dust, soot, and most especially from the burns that commonly occur during the lighting and extinguishing of candles on the altar.
The vesperale has a generous drape on all sides, usually around nine inches, to cover and protect the linen altar cloth beneath it. It is traditionally green or red with scalloped edges and embroidered lettering on the front. Each vesperale is carefully hand crafted using an antique Cornely chain-stitch embroidery machine to create the traditional loop filled scalloped border and Gothic lettering. The lettering can be any Catholic phrase for the sanctuary.
Please expect an email from the sales coordinator for precise measurements of the altar table and any cuts needed around the tabernacle, if any, should there be a need for clarification.
***Please contact sales coordinator for approximate date of completion. Item may not be returned.
