The Ely Brocade is an economical and versatile fabric available in six liturgical colors (Ivory, Red, Violet, Green, Gold, and Black). The Ely motif combines crowns and stylized roses after the style of A.W. Pugin. It was first produced circa 1890.

The crown motif is 3 1/2 inches wide – a perfect width for stoles that are 4 inches wide. One length will cut into 4 stoles. While the repeat size is small for use as a large frontal, Ely is a good choice for small items such as pulpit falls, burse and veil sets, Bible markers and super-frontals—and will work nicely for chasubles.  Ely would be excellent cut as orphreys on one of the plain fabrics—either silk or polyester. Along with the pattern, Tudor Rose, Ely is one of our oldest and most traditional liturgical patterns. Ely is a useful, inexpensive, traditional damask with a soft, true-damask sheen. If you are ready to work with damasks, Ely is an excellent choice.

This fabric is sourced from England and typically ships directly to you from the mill. This helps avoid double shipping costs and ensures faster delivery. Availability can vary depending on current stock and the mill’s production schedule. Please also note that an additional customs fee will be charged to you by the carrier.
